Inspired by the ideals of St. Francis, Blessed Maria Theresia Bonzel brought a vision to life with the help of six Sisters she sent from Olpe, Germany to Lafayette, Indiana in 1875. Their mission? To heal, uplift and educate the poor and neglected.

150 years later, our Franciscan Health Foundations embody this spirit of selfless love and compassion by supporting our hospitals, outpatient facilities and community programs across Indiana and Chicago’s south suburbs through employee and patient-focused initiatives.
