INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana – Franciscan Health Cancer Center Indianapolis recently received a generous donation of 100 blankets from Dreyer & Reinbold Subaru and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

Patients at the Franciscan Health Cancer Center will receive the blankets, which they can use during treatments and also take home with them.

The Dreyer & Reinbold team, based in Greenwood, Indiana, also brought 50 art and craft activity kits for the children whose parents are undergoing bone marrow and stem cell transplants.

“This is wonderful for our patients,” said Michelle Nees, program coordinator for Indiana Blood & Marrow Transplantation (IBMT) at Franciscan Health Indianapolis. “Our patients enjoy getting the blankets every day, while receiving their treatments.

“It is fantastic for our patients. Seeing the smiles on the patients faces when they receive a blanket puts a smile on your face and brightens your day. Subaru and Dreyer & Reinbold are great partners, and we are very thankful for all that they do for us and the entire community.”

The donations are part of the “Loves to Care” program, a health-focused initiative of Subaru’s national philanthropic platform.

“It means a lot to Subaru and Dreyer & Reinbold to be able to help the community,” said Andy Thimlar, sales manager at Dreyer & Reinbold Subaru. “We have been doing this for a handful of years with Franciscan and we know the joy that it brings people. We have a great relationship with Franciscan. They are in our neighborhood, and we are fortunate enough to give back to those in our own community.”

The blankets will be presented to patients undergoing treatment at the IBMT unit. The program is one of just three facilities – and the first – in Indiana offering full-service transplant care, including bone marrow and stem cell transplants. The unit specializes in treating leukemia, Hodgkin or non-Hodgkin lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other blood disorders.

Franciscan Health Cancer Center Indianapolis is located at 8111 South Emerson Avenue, Suite 101 in Indianapolis.
